Have you ever thought about joining us on a build? You do not need experience in home construction to volunteer. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer for a few hours, a day, whatever amount of time is suitable for you and your schedule, please contact us at (989) 732-6070. We will make sure you have an enjoyable experience while learning a new skill. Working along side of our partner family creates instant heart-happiness for both you and them!
How do we fund our home builds?
To become an Otsego County Habitat Hero, simply make a financial contribution of any dollar amount to Otsego County Habitat for Humanity. Every donation no matter how big or small provides a valuable impact for the construction of these new homes. For instance, a gift of $25 purchases a yard of carpet, $80 buys an interior door, and $200 pays for an energy efficient window. This last year, LINN challenged our area to make a financial gift to Habitat, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and help families break the cycle of poverty and build long-term financial security.
We are so grateful to all of our partners! Recently we have had local individuals make individual contributions which help us purchase a variety of materials for the home. The local Walmart awarded Habitat a $1,500 grant from their foundation; E-Free Church gave us $5,000 from their outreach ministries; Otsego County Community Foundation awarded a grant from the Scott & Janice Lampert Fund and the McNamara Fund, and Great Lakes Energy awarded us $2,000 for a flatbed trailer. God has blessed us abundantly! In turn, we can sell our partner family a brand new, solidly built home at cost. Selling the home at cost, and financing is our way of paying it forward and helping to keep the mortgage affordable for the new home owner. Many thanks to all the individuals, businesses and organizations for making this happen!
