Otsego County Habitat for Humanity is a non profit, non denominational Christian housing ministry dedicated to building decent, safe, and affordable housing in partnership with those in need throughout the world. Since our inception in 1994 Otsego County Habitat for Humanity has helped 18 low income families in our community become proud homeowners. Our mission and goal is to eliminate poverty housing and break the cycle of poverty in families living in our community.
Otsego County Habitat for Humanity is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, yet we seek our own support, volunteers, and donors. Partner families are required to invest 250 hours labor (per adult) - "Sweat Equity" - into building their homes and the homes of other Habitat families. Houses are sold with no profit and with long-term interest free mortgages. The monthly mortgage payments are used to help finance additional Habitat Homes.
