Building strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.

Community Impact

We improve lives, one home at a time!
In 1993, a group of inspired leaders took a leap of faith to create opportunities for low-income families to build and buy affordable homes in our community's. Thanks to their vision and the support of the community, 39 families have become Habitat homeowners. Our nonprofit is also pleased to offer full-time residents an opportunity to improve and stabilize their homes through our Critical Home Repair, A Brush of Kindness or Weatherization programs.

Breaking the cycle of poverty ~
For many hard-working, low-income families in Antrim and Otsego counties, home ownership is out of reach. These families don't qualify for a standard bank loan. Many low-income families have a significant housing problem. For them, a cycle of poverty and instability often continues no matter how they persevere. The statistics are grim: unsafe, unhealthy, inadequate housing and often no housing at all, is often the only option, and it is costly. Many families spend too much of their income on shelter, placing other necessities out of reach.

Without Habitat's affordable financing, not-for-profit homes, many families have zero opportunity for home ownership.

God's love put into action ~
Habitat meets the affordable-housing crisis head on. We build energy efficient houses. We provide affordable financing. We recruit partner families – then help them achieve home ownership and help them acquire the skills to face those responsibilities and challenges. Home ownership brings enhanced stability and opportunity to the lives of many families. Habitat creatively explores strategies and makes connections that keep the cost of our homes—and home ownership—at a minimum.

Extending hope ~
Why is home ownership so empowering? When a family can own a home, it helps children stay in the same school. It eases family conflict and stress. It helps build financial equity while encouraging self-esteem and self-reliance. Habitat addresses affordable housing concerns with a truly revolutionary response. Because we understand both the great need and the far-reaching results that are possible, we are able to offer a program that brings true benefit to families. The entire community is lifted when families are able to build financial and social capital. Otsego-Antrim Habitat for Humanity makes it possible in our northern communities.

Sustainable living ~
Everything we need to address the housing crisis is right here in our area. The motivated families. The volunteers. The financial resources. Habitat brings them all together to create a community miracle. Habitat supports a forceful chain reaction that improves many lives—for many years.

Please consider partnering with us through a donation of cash, time or materials to give a hand up, not a handout.  Your contribution ensures that Habitat families can set a shining example for their children, their neighborhoods, and their community. For volunteer opportunities, click
